Direction & roadmap

Build a private record that becomes more useful as your history grows.

Iterune is being developed as a structured, long-term record of work, life and administration. Focused apps sit on top of connected information so people can enter less, retrieve more and turn history into useful actions.

Purpose

A useful personal record, not a bundle of unrelated apps.

Each domain should provide a focused workflow while contributing to a durable record that can be reused elsewhere. The long-term advantage is not the number of screens Iterune has; it is that information entered today can still save work, answer questions and trigger useful actions years later.

Career firstDocuments as evidenceConnected recordsLow maintenancePrivate by default

Product laws

Principles that should survive individual feature decisions.

Enter once, reuse forever

Information should become reusable across future workflows instead of being repeatedly re-entered.

Low-maintenance by design

Imports, extraction and relationships should do more of the organisational work than manual upkeep.

Records → relationships → actions

Stored information matters when connections produce retrieval, reminders, signals and useful next steps.

History compounds

A month of records should be useful. A year should be substantially more useful.

AI assists the record

AI can extract, retrieve, compare and draft, but structured facts stay inspectable, correctable and attributable.

Trust is product work

Privacy, security, provenance, export, deletion and recovery are product capabilities, not background chores.

Current status

A real pre-launch system, with depth concentrated in Career.

  • Active pre-launch product with a public site, shared navigation, authentication, Hub, profile/settings, search and inbox foundations.
  • Career is the deepest product today, with reusable career information, jobs/applications, a CV library, structured editing, templates, sharing and export foundations.
  • Documents already uses private storage and is positioned to become shared evidence infrastructure across Iterune.
  • Vehicle, Student, Projects and Money have early workspace foundations, but breadth is not the current development priority.
  • Google sign-in and email/password authentication are live; legal acceptance, private storage and Row Level Security are already part of the production foundation.

Direction

Depth first, then reuse, then expansion.

New breadth should unlock when the previous layer is genuinely useful. The focused Career apps prove independent usefulness and shared records. Documents provides evidence. Shared records connect information. Search and attention make history useful. Imports reduce maintenance. A second deep vertical then tests whether the model generalises.

Career → Documents → connected records → retrieval/attention → low-maintenance capture → second vertical → cross-app intelligence.

Architecture

Focused domain ownership over shared infrastructure.

Shared data should not become one giant abstract schema. Domains own meaningful records; common services and explicit relationships connect them.

01

Public layer

Discovery, high-intent content, Blog, Community and clear product status. Public messaging should explain the value of connected history rather than promise a vague everything-in-one-place suite.

02

Hub

An overview and launch point, not a duplicate of every app. It should increasingly surface useful cross-app attention and history.

03

Domain apps

Career is a section containing Applications, Career Record and Professional Development. Focused apps own workflows and canonical domain records.

04

Shared services

Connect, Documents, Document Studio, managed Mail, entities, relationships, search, Calendar, reminders, provenance, imports, sharing and account/security services are reused across domains.

05

Data & trust

Supabase-backed identity, PostgreSQL records, private storage, RLS and explicit permissions. Shared concepts connect domains without forcing every record into one generic schema.

Domain fact

A job, application, vehicle or qualification belongs to its domain.

Evidence

Documents support facts and can be reused across workflows without duplication.

Relationship

Explicit links make organisations, people, dates, costs and records useful across domains.

High-level version release plan

One release should prove the reason for the next.

This is directional rather than a promise of fixed dates. Ordering can change when real usage produces better evidence.

01
Now

Release 01: three connected Career apps

Build the first complete Iterune product while extracting the shared infrastructure the rest of the platform will reuse.

  • Build Connect as repeatable first-party infrastructure with explicit relationships, provenance and permissions. Core reuse of a user's own Iterune data is part of Iterune; advanced external integrations and automation can become paid capabilities later.
  • Audit and evolve the live data model before Career grows further: separate opportunities from applications, link shared organisations/documents/reminders cleanly, preserve compatibility during migrations and retire overlapping legacy structures only after dependency checks.
  • Extract the reusable CV editor/render/export/versioning capabilities into a shared Document Studio. CVs become a Career document type; cover letters are the next proving use case, followed later by reports, letters, invoices, receipts and other generated documents.
  • Make Career History the canonical source of truth for employment, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, achievements, projects, courses, publications, internships, volunteering, languages, awards, references and professional/contact information.
  • Make import the default onboarding path: existing CV → reviewable structured Career History, with duplicate/conflict handling, original-file preservation and record-level provenance.
  • Keep CVs production-grade: truthful tailoring from Career History, templates, reliable pagination, layout controls, versions, autosave/recovery, PDF/DOCX export, sharing and strong mobile behaviour.
  • Build unified job discovery through permitted APIs/feeds and user-controlled imports. Deduplicate the same vacancy across providers. LinkedIn, Indeed and similar sources use authorised integrations or user-provided links only — no unauthorised scraping.
  • Create a detailed Opportunity page that helps answer whether a role is worth applying for: compensation, current/desired/market comparison, location, commute time/cost, effective income, work pattern, requirements, evidence match, deadlines, benefits and sourced competition signals where available.
  • Separate Opportunity from Application. The flow becomes Find → Understand → Decide → Prepare → Apply → Track → Interview → Outcome → Learn.
  • Create reusable Application Materials through Document Studio: cover letters, supporting statements, reusable answers, recruiter/follow-up messages and a Career evidence/STAR bank grounded only in truthful stored history.
  • Use Connect for reviewed application autofill. Iterune may prepare trusted identity, Career History, qualifications, links, CVs, cover letters and reusable answers, but must not fabricate answers or silently submit applications.
  • Track applications with a simple visual progress rail backed by a detailed event timeline, exact CV/material versions, interviews, assessments, offers, outcomes, reminders and correspondence.
  • Build Iterune Mail as a managed administrative communications layer rather than another inbox: receive, classify, link and act on correspondence, preserve provenance, and surface only what needs the user's attention. Career is the first proving use case.
  • Connect Career events into Calendar, Hub, reminders, notifications and What's next? so interviews, deadlines, replies and stale applications surface in the right place without duplicating app workflows.
  • Capture employer feedback, user notes and Iterune suggestions separately so application history can improve future CVs, interview preparation and skills without presenting inference as employer feedback.
  • Career is a section: Applications owns opportunities, CVs, materials and the full application lifecycle; Career Record owns durable history; Professional Development owns standing, memberships, credentials and CPD.
  • Run a site-wide truth, link, capitalisation and formatting pass so public copy, app descriptions and feature maturity match the connected-record direction.
  • Release gate: existing information → Career History → useful CV → find/evaluate a real opportunity → prepare/apply → track correspondence/interview/outcome → learn → reuse the same history for the next opportunity.
02
Next foundation

Documents as shared evidence infrastructure

Turn Documents from a file manager into the evidence layer underneath Iterune.

  • Upload/import, preview, version, archive, restore and securely export documents.
  • Extract useful metadata and dates while preserving the original source.
  • Link one document to multiple records without duplicating the underlying file.
  • Model fact ↔ evidence/document ↔ workflow as distinct concepts.
  • Add provenance, duplicate detection and expiry/effective-date intelligence.
  • Use Career as the first major consumer: CVs, certificates, contracts, offer letters, job adverts, training records and references.
03
Platform

Shared connected-record foundation

Formalise only the shared concepts proven necessary by real use.

  • First-class people, organisations, places, documents, assets, events/dates, monetary values, contacts, reminders, sources and relationships.
  • Domain apps continue to own their real records; shared entities connect them instead of replacing them.
  • Add explicit relationship management, provenance and important-record history/undo.
  • Detect duplicates and conflicting records before cross-app data becomes difficult to clean up.
04
Platform

Global search, timeline and retrieval

Make accumulated information easy to retrieve across domains and over time.

  • Structured, semantic, entity-aware and relationship-aware search across apps.
  • Filters for time, person, organisation, type and domain.
  • Cross-app timeline, record history and visible provenance.
  • Support questions such as which CV was used, what changed, when something was renewed, which records relate to an organisation and what an asset cost over time.
05
Platform

The attention system

Surface what needs attention from underlying records instead of becoming another task manager.

  • Generate reminders and prompts from real dates, relationships and state.
  • Detect expiries, renewals, stale applications, missing actions, incomplete records, conflicts and meaningful price changes.
  • Keep manual tasks secondary where deterministic logic can infer the action.
  • Make “What needs my attention?” a focused cross-app experience rather than a dashboard full of passive charts.
06
Capture

Low-maintenance capture and migration

Reduce typing and make existing information the starting point.

  • Universal natural-language Quick Add.
  • Document/photo scanning and structured extraction.
  • CV, job advert, email, calendar, CSV, receipt and file imports.
  • Keep original source, timestamp, confidence where useful and user corrections.
  • Never silently replace trusted facts with extracted or AI-generated assumptions.
07
Intelligence

Automation and relationship intelligence

Use enough real data to suggest connections and actions with evidence.

  • Automatic entity matching and suggested relationships.
  • Intelligent duplicate detection and missing-link suggestions.
  • Suggested document-to-record links.
  • Renewal, expiry, price/cost change and stale-record detection.
  • Prefer deterministic rules when they are more reliable than AI.
08
Evidence-led

Second deep product

Prove that the Iterune model generalises beyond Career before expanding broadly.

  • Choose the next deep area from observed usage rather than a fixed catalogue order.
  • Vehicle is the current likely candidate because ownership naturally combines assets, documents, costs, reminders, renewals and events.
  • A strong Vehicle service would cover purchase, ownership, MOT, tax, insurance, service, repairs, mileage, fuel/charging, receipts, costs and disposal.
  • Do not build full Money early simply because it is an obvious category; financial aggregation raises the integration, security and trust bar significantly.
09
Cross-app

Life-event workflows

Combine multiple areas temporarily when a real event spans them.

  • Changing job: applications, contract, salary, documents, dates and employer history.
  • Buying a vehicle: purchase, payment, insurance, tax, documents, servicing and reminders.
  • Moving home: address changes, utilities, organisations, documents, dates and costs.
  • Starting study: education records, documents, fees, accommodation, qualifications and calendar events.
  • Avoid turning every life event into another permanent app.
10
History

Longitudinal intelligence

Create value that only exists because useful history has accumulated.

  • Salary and career progression.
  • Application outcome history.
  • Vehicle total cost of ownership and recurring cost changes.
  • Renewal and document history.
  • Missing expected records and meaningful year-over-year changes.
  • Personal annual summaries generated from real underlying records with traceable sources.
11
Assistant

Iterune assistant

Make conversation an interface to the user's structured history, not the product itself.

  • Natural-language retrieval, explanation, summarisation and drafting grounded in Iterune records.
  • Truthful CV tailoring using only stored experience.
  • Questions over connected history such as upcoming expiries, previous employers, asset cost and monthly attention.
  • Later, permissioned actions with explicit confirmation and visible consequences.
12
Trust

Trust and account-security maturity

Make security, control and portability visible product strengths.

  • Passkeys/MFA, device and session management, login/security history and richer audit trails.
  • Granular sharing, revocation and clear ownership.
  • Excellent export, account deletion and recovery.
  • Backup/recovery maturity, storage controls and continuing RLS auditing.
  • Plain-language AI/provider handling: what is sent, why, to whom, retention expectations and what remains inside Iterune.
13
Sharing

Shared households and delegated access

Extend the proven single-person model without weakening private-by-default behaviour.

  • Optional household, partner/family and delegated-access models.
  • Shared vehicles, property, documents and selected expenses where appropriate.
  • Read-only, limited and revocable access with explicit ownership boundaries.
14
Platform

Integrations and API

Let external systems contribute to or consume authorised Iterune records safely.

  • Email, calendar, cloud-storage and domain-specific integrations.
  • API, webhooks, import/export endpoints, permission scopes and revocation.
  • Preserve provenance for externally sourced records.
  • Add financial-source integrations only when security, trust and product evidence justify them.
15
Later

Broader vertical expansion

Expand only where the shared platform creates a real advantage.

  • Potential deeper areas include Home/property, Student, Money, possessions, travel and family administration.
  • Every proposed app must answer: what can Iterune do here specifically because it already knows something useful?
  • Do not ship mediocre copies of specialist software simply to increase catalogue breadth.
16
Milestone

Mature ecosystem / Iterune 1.0

Reserve 1.0 for proof of the product thesis, not simply for being publicly available.

  • Career is independently strong and at least one other deep vertical proves cross-app reuse.
  • Documents, relationships, search, imports, reminders and history work as a coherent platform.
  • Users get value quickly and return months later because accumulated information remains useful.
  • Security, portability, deletion/recovery and permission controls are mature.
  • Cross-app workflows are meaningfully better because the underlying record is connected.

Near-term execution

What the current phase should actually concentrate on.

Connect & database

Build repeatable Connect relationships/provenance and fix structural database debt before adding more Career-specific shortcuts.

Document Studio

Extract shared document primitives from the CV system without breaking existing CV behaviour; prove the abstraction with cover letters.

Career History

Make one canonical, editable Career History and make CV import the fastest path into it.

Find jobs

Create the first unified discovery layer with saved searches, user-controlled imports and provider adapters that only use permitted access.

Opportunity intelligence

Make one Job page the place to understand compensation, practical fit, commute, evidence match, market context and whether the role deserves an application.

Applications

Separate opportunities from submitted applications, add a clear progress rail and preserve exact materials, events, correspondence, feedback and outcomes.

Managed Mail

Lay the shared Iterune Mail foundation so administrative correspondence can become linked records, Calendar events, reminders and attention items rather than another inbox.

UX & truth

Simplify Career navigation and then audit public/product copy, links, capitalisation, formatting and maturity claims across the website.

Instrumentation

Measure imports, reuse, opportunity decisions, applications, retrieval success, useful attention actions and 30/90/180-day return behaviour.

Trust

Continue RLS, storage, deletion/export, recovery, provenance and security work alongside product features rather than postponing it.

Opportunities

Where connected history can create a genuine advantage.

  • A genuinely useful personal/work data layer rather than another productivity suite.
  • Cross-app intelligence created from shared history and explicit relationships.
  • Long-term retention through accumulated useful records rather than artificial lock-in.
  • Powerful longitudinal retrieval: what happened, when, why and what did it cost?
  • Automatic detection of deadlines, renewals, stale processes, changes and missing actions.
  • Cheaper future vertical development once shared primitives are mature.
  • High-intent acquisition through Career and other concrete problems rather than generic organisation messaging.
  • A future assistant that can reason over permissioned structured history and take controlled actions.

What not to become

Guardrails against breadth without value.

  • Building many areas deeply at the same time.
  • Treating every concept or life event as a standalone app.
  • Duplicating common concepts across incompatible domain models.
  • Adding generic productivity features unless connected data makes them meaningfully better.
  • Premature microservices, theoretical-scale optimisation or unnecessary infrastructure complexity.
  • Using AI where deterministic rules are clearer and more reliable.
  • AI-generated insights that are not actionable or traceable.
  • Making users manually maintain large amounts of information.
  • Prioritising Community, messaging or complex Iterune+ packaging before core utility proves retention.
  • Storing increasingly sensitive categories faster than security maturity justifies.
  • Artificial lock-in; export and portability should be excellent.
  • Confusing a large app catalogue with actual product value.

Measure behaviour

Expansion should be earned by evidence.

A records product can be valuable without daily engagement. Measure whether people get useful results, reuse their history and return when that history matters.

Trust & notes

Decisions that shape the roadmap.

Career first. The wider platform should support Career rather than slow it down.

Documents are infrastructure with a user-facing app. They should become the evidence layer used everywhere else.

Vehicle is a candidate, not a commitment. The second deep vertical should be selected from evidence.

Money comes with a higher bar. Iterune can store domain costs before becoming a financial aggregation product.

AI is an input and assistance layer. Provenance, correction and deterministic logic remain important.

Portability matters. Retention should come from useful history, not from making that history difficult to leave with.

This roadmap can change. Product maturity and real behaviour should outrank an old plan.

Long-term proposition

A private record of your work and life that gets more useful over time.

The goal is not to replace every specialist tool. It is to make important information durable, connected, reusable and increasingly useful as a person's history grows.
